The federal files are used as published, including their errors and gaps. Owner complaints are unverified accounts. Figures can change when the source files are reissued. Nothing here is a substitute for inspecting a car or checking a VIN.

Limits of responsibility

The site is provided as it is. We are not responsible for decisions made on the strength of it, such as buying, selling or repairing a vehicle, or for any loss that follows from them, to the extent the law allows.

Use of the pages

Quote the pages with a link back. The underlying federal data is public and not ours to license; the wording, the rules and the tables derived from them are ours.

Photographs

Photographs are not ours. Each is used under its own license, most often Creative Commons, and its author and license are named beside it; reuse it on those terms, not on ours.
